Normal rules as framed by the International Rugby Football Board, subject to local variations as determined by the NZRFU or WRFU shall apply, unless agreed otherwise by both teams and the referee, and in particular that:

	All games shall be of 40 minutes each way.
	All players must have played at least one competition game for their team (unless at start of the season).
	All players shall NOT have played mainly for another team in that season, especially in a higher grade or training team.
	Holders shall have choice of jerseys.
	Teams shall be non-training unless given dispensation to challenge.
	Every Old Boys - University shield holder versus Old Boys - University eligible challenger competition game shall be designated a legitimate challenge.
